Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal is a large estate and we offer a regular minibus service to help visitors access the three entrances and St Mary’s church. Working to a timetable you’ll be collecting visitors from each entrance point and dropping them at various locations. The minibus service is especially useful to those who find walking difficult so you’ll be available to give them a helping hand.
You’ll need to have a full driving license, including D1 category. You’ll be up for further in-house driver training to gain a MiDAS minibus driver’s certificate. You’ll have an enthusiastic and friendly manner, enjoy meeting people, and be willing to help visitors requiring the use of our minibus. You’ll also be on hand to issue disability vehicles to visitors.
Minibus drivers contribute regularly, at least once a fortnight, to a rota offering morning or afternoon sessions. You’ll be expected to attend the following training: Two day Estate Induction; Service Promise training; Role specific training including obtaining a MiDAS certificate – an essential qualification to drive our minibus. Out-of-pocket travel costs between home and volunteering place will be paid up to a maximum of 40 miles, and other reasonable expenses agreed in advance.
