Description of the role:

• Entering invoices and expenditure details into the online software
• Preparing payments for the Director to authorise
• Checking the bank reconciliation monthly to see if any income/outgoing is not on it and flagging them to the Director
• Flagging invoices that are unpaid after the 30 day period to the relevant department head for them to chase
• Cash handling and preparing paying in slips for cash and cheques to be paid into the bank

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

• Willing to devote time and effort required to carry out the finance role
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills
• Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Initiative and the ability to work independently
• Good interpersonal skills
• Reliable and punctual
• Able to work independently or as part of a team
• Able to engage, good independent judgement and be willing to say what you think
• Competent in the use of IT packages, i.e. word and email

Practical information:

• This role is for 1 year initially
• Between half and one full day per week available to volunteer

Organisation Information

Preservation of historic buildings and artefacts, education services and responsible for The Prison & Police, The Workhouse and The Courthouse Museums in Ripon. We have around 140 volunteers who fulfil a variety of roles which range from helping with education visits to gardening, cataloguing the collections to keeping our accounts, repairing brickwork to researching the stories behind the buildings.
