Exercise After Stroke - Volunteer

Exercise After Stroke - Volunteer
HBC - Culture, Tourism & Sport
Description of the role:

The class aims to improve physical capability, strength balance and coordination and confidence in people who have had a stroke through specific exercises delivered with a trained instructor in a fun session. The class is led by a fully qualified instructor who will guide and supervise the volunteer. There are also Harrogate Borough Council staff based at the site in the community centre office itself for support and conversation.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

The volunteer will need to assist class participants to walk between exercise stations (these "stations" are set around an indoor gym and people move from one to the other) . The volunteer will also be asked to aid the participants to use the equipment safely with guidance and generally observe the class to ensure participants are safe, well and enjoying the experience of the class . It would suit a volunteer that is sufficiently physically fit. There are no age restrictions specifically attached to this opportunity. Good will, good communication and a sense of good spirit are important. Harrogate Borough Council will require a DBS check (for which Harrogate Borough Council will pay).

Practical information:
