Description of the role:

You can help build a connected community by sharing your particular skills and enthusiasm to reach and inspire other people with sight loss. You will give encouragement, exchange knowledge and information, reach out and connect to those who are isolated; creating enjoyable opportunities that will help us grow in confidence and build public awareness of what it’s like living with little or no sight. You can choose what you want to do, how much time you want to give and focus on the things you enjoy doing, whether in your local area, wider region or even nationally.

You could be doing any of the following or something else which fits your skills. Building local links, attending local and regional events, organising, supporting and attending activities in your local area for blind and partially sighted people, using technology skills or moderating online, raising awareness of living with sight loss, research, writing, public speaking, contributing to leadership groups or encouraging or coaching others to play an active community role.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

• Good communication skills
• Good organisational skills
• An understanding of issues affecting blind / partially sighted people

Practical information:

This a flexible role for a few hours per week, which can be done from home.

You will receive:

• Supervision and help from your Manager
• Training as appropriate
