Zero Carbon Harrogate
Description of the role:

Zero Carbon Harrogate is a voluntary organisation working to effect change across the district so that we can rapidly become a leading low carbon economy. We are seeking a Secretary for our Management Committee to assist the Chair in the smooth running of meetings.

The role will include:

- Preparing and circulating agendas, and accompanying papers, in consultation with the Chair
- Receive agenda items from other committee members
- Attend bi-monthly committee meetings to take minutes and circulate them to all committee members
- To check that the committee members have carried out actions as agreed
- To circulate agendas and minutes of AGMs etc.
- To ensure that up to date records are kept of committee membership

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

- An interest in climate change and moving our district to a low carbon future
- Organisational ability
- Experience of committee work and procedures
- Minute taking experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Impartiality and the ability to respect confidences
- Well organised and with an eye for detail
- Ability to work well with the Chair
- IT literate, competent at using Word

Practical information:

We expect that the time commitment for the role will be approximately 4 hours per month.

Committee meetings are usually held bi-monthly and during the day at a committee member's house in Harrogate.

Organisation Information

ZCH is bringing together individuals, community groups, local businesses and our politicians to work collaboratively to transform our district and become one of the first low carbon economies in the UK. We are developing and supporting low carbon projects in the district and celebrating local success stories, which showcase how businesses and individuals can significantly reduce their carbon emissions. We currently have groups focusing on food and food waste, buildings, transport and carbon sequestration.
