Resurrected Bites Cafe Cook

Resurrected Bites Cafe Cook
St Marks Church
Description of the role:

The Resurrected Bites Cafe opened in January 2018 and has been very busy ever since. We are not an ordinary cafe though as we intercept food "waste" from shops and wholesalers and turn it into delicious, nutritious meals. The cafe runs on a pay as you feel basis which means that everyone can afford to go out for a meal. We have big communal tables to encourage community and conversation. We also raise money for charity. We are open 10-2 every Wednesday and on the third Saturday of the month (except Christmas and Easter week and August). We have a great team of volunteers who help with collecting the food, prepping and cooking the food and serving.

We serve around 100 people at each cafe and therefore have a lot of food to cook and so we are looking for someone with a passion for cooking to join our team of volunteers.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Are you a "Ready Steady Cook"? Do you love to cook with a variety of ingredients? Do you enjoy team work and working in a busy kitchen?
We will provide level 2 food hygiene training if you do not already have a current certificate.

Practical information:

Cooks generally start at 8.30 am and leave around 3pm but if you would like to volunteer reduced hours, please let us know when you apply. Also please let us know which cafe you would like to help with, the weekly Wednesday cafe (please let us know if you would like to do every week or one or two weeks per month), the monthly Saturday cafe or both.

Organisation Information

St Mark’s Church has a worshipping community in excess of 600 adults and more than 300 under 18s. Like many growing churches, we need to invest in doing all we can to bring God’s Kingdom, not just to our immediate church family, but also to the wider community in which we live. Working closely with the clergy, the Kingdom of Life Director will be pivotal in helping to grow God’s Kingdom in Harrogate.
