Description of the role:

We are currently looking at recruiting volunteers for a peer mentoring scheme that we are starting to run for our young people on the North Yorkshire Young People's Pathway.

We would like to match peer mentors with the young people in our hostel to provide support with attending appointments, completing forms and attending group sessions such as the Harrogate progress group. The peer mentor role will also be help with encouraging engagement and supporting with support plan targets.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

We would like to hear from anybody that has a natural interest in helping vulnerable people, good listening skills and some good old life experience!

Practical information:

We are ideally looking at a commitment of at least 3 - 6 months and weekly volunteer sessions.

Foundation delivers a range of services across the City York:

Resettlement and Community Support (RACS) – offering intensive resettlement and accommodation support for offenders who are assessed as being a greater risk to the community.

Making Safe – supporting victims of domestic abuse to remain in their own homes and at the same time challenging the perpetrators behaviour.

Support for adult offenders to access and maintain a range of accommodation within the city.

Young people aged 16-25 are supported to find a home and develop skills to live.

Foundation also manages a hostel which houses 5 vulnerable 16-19 year olds and provides 24 hour staff support.
