Organisation Information

Situated on the edge of Harrogate’s historic parkland, The Stray, The Granby Care Home offers beautiful views from many rooms. The home is based within easy reach of the town’s shops, tearooms, restaurants and amenities and has ample parking for visitors. This impressive eighteenth-century former hotel offers en suite bedrooms, a library, lounge bar, a cinema and a beautiful Crystal Ballroom. Recently refurbished and decorated to reflect both the area and the building’s historic roots.
Surrounded by green gardens and peaceful lawns, it is the perfect place for residents who enjoy relaxing outdoors and getting a little bit of fresh air. We have a vibrant activities programme designed to create magic moments each day. Every resident becomes a member of our Magic Moments Club. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn’t mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way. This exciting programme is specially designed for older people and offers something for everyone. It includes exercise, sport, relaxation (including mindfulness, yoga and tai chi coming soon), music and garden / nature pursuits.

Part of the brighterkind care home group, The Granby Care Home focuses on three signatures: extraordinary care, recreation and activities, and making dining special. The home offers both residential and nursing care. Provided by trained carers, residential care offers assistance with everyday activities, such as washing, dressing, eating, and mobility. One of our buildings is dedicated to providing residential care and comprises 43 rooms. Our residents can be comfortable and confident in the knowledge that these areas of their life won’t be a struggle, so they can get on doing the things they love. We have an entire suite dedicated to nursing care. It comprises 35 bedrooms, four of which are suitable as doubles suitable for couples who want to stay together. We always have registered nurses on duty, 24 hours a day. Respite care is for those wishing to stay with us on a short-term basis, whether needing extra support on a temporary basis, convalescence or are recovering from an illness or operation. brighterkind was shortlisted for Residential Care Provider 2018 and won 'Residential Care Provider of the year’ in 2017. Judges described our ‘Magic Moments’ and ‘Wishing Well’ activities programme as 'inspirational'.
