Description of the role:

Role Purpose

To help your local Sue Ryder in Knaresborough to accept, prepare, price and display bric-a-brac to maximise sales.

Role Overview

Do you have an eye for an heirloom? Can you spot what's priceless and what's…erm, well, not?

Sue Ryder's retail team in Knaresborough is looking for enthusiastic bric-a-brac specialists to help maximise sales which fund our healthcare services.

As a volunteer bric-a-brac specialist you'll help to sort, price and display bric-a-brac kindly donated by the public to get the best possible prices.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

We'll need you to:

- have a bit of knowledge of things like ornaments, kitchen equipment, plates, glasses, vases - that sort of thing, and their value
- be friendly and approachable
- have common sense
- have a good eye for display
- be able to use your own initiative
- work as part of a team


Previous experience would be beneficial but is not essential as all training will be provided. Really you just need to have an interest in this kind of ‘stuff’!

Practical information:

Ideally we would like you to commit to 4 hours per week but all volunteering hours are flexible - we appreciate whatever help you can offer.

Comprehensive induction available.

We can reimburse your reasonable local travel expenses for shifts of over 4 hours and we will be able to provide a reference to prospective employers.

We offer NVQ’s in Customer Service and Retail (England only).
