Description of the role:

We have been awarded some £30,000 from the Arts Council Catalyst Fund to enable us to become much more skilled at Fundraising. The key focus will be on Trusts and Foundations, Private Philanthropy (from smaller regular donations to larger one-off amounts) and Legacies.

The budget covers expenditure on:

• A Mentor or to challenge and teach us regarding the art of fundraising - especially private giving.
• PR and marketing regarding our fundraising campaign.
• Administration - especially of the digital platform we will use to manage the fundraising program and campaign.
• Costs of visiting other charities to see what the real experts do.

We are looking for two types of help:

• Join the Project Team that will manage this activity over the next 18 months.
• Undertaking a myriad of tasks to make our wider fundraising a reality and reach our target of £1 million.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

• A passion to help with fundraising
• Planning and organisation
• Willing and able to visit other charities
• Digital - data entry, reporting and interpretation
• Social Media
• Marketing appreciation and PR help
• Research into prospective Trusts and Foundations and into individual philanthropists
• Hosting / helping with fundraising events
• Finding new networks of donors
• Researching prospective corporate sponsors
• Ambassador for RMT

Practical information:

Anyone interested will first have a discussion about the role, followed by an induction. Hours are variable and flexible depending upon your skills, interests and availability.

You can work from home or be based at one of our 3 museums.

Organisation Information

Preservation of historic buildings and artefacts, education services and responsible for The Prison & Police, The Workhouse and The Courthouse Museums in Ripon. We have around 140 volunteers who fulfil a variety of roles which range from helping with education visits to gardening, cataloguing the collections to keeping our accounts, repairing brickwork to researching the stories behind the buildings.

Working with Dementia Forward and the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate, Ripon Museums have fun activities for people with dementia, their families and carers.
