Description of the role:

You will join a small committee of volunteers who organise activities and events for people affected by Parkinson's. The number of hours varies but on average it is 10-12 per month. You will provide admin support which includes taking and circulating minutes, being a point of contact with Parkinson's UK and sharing info and updates so that people know what is happening locally and nationally. You will have the opportunity to forge new friendships and meet new people, gain valuable organisational, administrative and people skills and do something really useful for your community. You will also learn about the work of a major health charity and be an important part of the wider Parkinson's UK network.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

• be a good communicator, as you will be working with a wide range of different people
• enjoy working as part of a team
• be motivated and reliable, with good administrative, IT and organisational skills in order to help the branch operate at its best
• know how to ask for help when you need it and recognise which areas are most important, especially during busy periods

Practical information:

You will receive an induction to Parkinson's UK covering a range of topics to help you learn more about Parkinson's, the charity and the practicalities of volunteering.

Ongoing contact and any additional support you need will be provided throughout your role by Parkinson's UK staff.
