Description of the role:

Melmerby Youth Club is looking for additional volunteers to support this weekly youth club. The sessions run every Tuesday evening during term time and offer a creative and fun program for local children and young people. Activities include arts and crafts, games, food, visiting speakers and trips out.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Volunteers should be able to engage with children and young people in an informal and relaxed manner. They will work with the other volunteers and young people to plan the sessions and arrange the necessary resources. Volunteers with specific skills / hobbies are encouraged to get in touch - particularly if you are able to offer just an hour of your time to help deliver an activity to the club members.

Practical information:

The youth club is open every Tuesday from 7 - 8pm. Term time only. Volunteers may need to attend from 6.45 to help set up and until 8.15pm to tidy away.

Organisation Information

Youth Development Workers help set up, support and develop community-led clubs and projects for young people aged 11 - 19 years. NYY also provides training and resources for both new and established clubs and adventurous activities for young people at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre. The Buddy network is a befriending project for young people aged 14 - 19 years. The young volunteers project is for young people aged 14 - 25 years and who are interested in volunteering in their area.
