Description of the role:

Boroughbridge Youth Club is looking for an enthusiastic person who would like to work with young people in school years 7 to 10 (ages 11 - 15). The club runs every Tuesday during term-time from 6.30 - 8.00pm. Activities include arts & crafts, pool, Xbox and Wii, games and food. Guest speakers and trips out are a regular occurrence at the club.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Volunteers should be able to engage with children and young people in an informal and relaxed manner. Volunteers should have an interest in the activities that children and young people like to take part in so that a creative weekly program can be put together. For those who are interested introductory youth work training is available through North Yorkshire Youth who the youth club is affiliated to.

Practical information:

The session runs from 6.30 - 8pm. Volunteers will need to arrive for 6pm to setup the session as well as stay until around 8.15pm to tidy up. The session is held upstairs in the social club which is accessed via stairs - unfortunately there is no lift.

Organisation Information

Youth Development Workers help set up, support and develop community-led clubs and projects for young people aged 11 - 19 years. NYY also provides training and resources for both new and established clubs and adventurous activities for young people at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre. The Buddy network is a befriending project for young people aged 14 - 19 years. The young volunteers project is for young people aged 14 - 25 years and who are interested in volunteering in their area.
