Social Activities Volunteer
RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People)
Description of the role:

Are you friendly and outgoing? We need you to help out with activities and outings for our blind and partially sighted residents. Activities could include quizzes, bingo, music, crosswords, a social outing or simply having a chat and helping with basic tasks such as reading.

What will you be doing?
Having a chat and providing company,
Assisting with personal correspondence,
Making teas and coffees,
Acting as a sighted guide
Developing and delivering new activities.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

•Empathy with older people
•Empathy with partially sighted people
•Enjoy working as part of a team
•Enthusiasm to have fun with residents
•Sighted guiding (full training given)

Practical information:

We ask volunteers to contribute hours on a regular basis, ideally 2 hours a week.
