Description of the role:

We are looking for volunteer Visitors to join the National Visitors Network, our national befriending scheme for older people that provides companionship to older people experiencing loneliness or social isolation. Befrienders visit older people in their homes and provide regular chat/conversations (weekly/fortnightly or monthly as determined).

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Training is provided before any volunteer is matched to an older person. The CPD accredited seminar gives the chance for volunteers to understanding befriending, managing expectations, ending a visit etc. Someone sociable who enjoys meeting and talking to people would be perfect. Minimum time commitment expected would be 12 months.

Practical information:

Registration form required along with references followed by training seminar. Reasonable travel expenses are covered.
