Speaker
North Yorkshire Rotters
Description of the role:

Are you interested in protecting the environment? Do you have a passion for community involvement and enjoy talking to community groups about a subject you are passionate about? If so volunteering with the North Yorkshire Rotters could be for you! The North Yorkshire Rotters project is looking for volunteer speakers to help promote the Love Food Hate Waste and Home Composting campaigns. As a volunteer speaker for the project you will have the opportunity to engage with community groups and help your community to find out how they can help to reduce waste and also save money too! The idea of the role is to help your community to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, save up to £60 per month by reducing food waste and really help the environment too! Volunteers should have an interest in finding out more about the campaigns the North Yorkshire Rotters promote and have good communication skills and be enthusiastic.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Volunteers should enjoy meeting people, have good communication skills and be willing to give at least one or two talks to local community groups each year. Volunteers can have an informal meeting with the Volunteer Coordinator to find out more about the project.

This is also an excellent opportunity to gain experience of promoting a worthwhile cause to the public in a community role.

Practical information:

A volunteer handbook and role specific training is provided and volunteers are reimbursed travel expenses for giving talks to community groups in their local area. Volunteers are supported by the Volunteer Coordinator and there are opportunities for volunteers to be part of a team and learn about the project from volunteers who have been with the project for some time.

All the resources and leaflets to help you in your work speaker role are provided and a Volunteer Coordinator supports volunteers and also helps to organise the talks.

If you are interested in finding out more about the project and the volunteering opportunities then please click enquire now to get in contact with the Volunteer Coordinator.
