Description of the role:

We are enthusiastic about volunteering opportunities and believe NY Horizons is a great place develop your skills and help support local communities.

We appreciate that people volunteer for a variety of reasons; some may have had previous personal experience in treatment services; some may simply be considering a career change; others may want to enhance their study or practical learning experience.

The role of Administration Support is required for the Reception areas in each of our main offices. This is a front of house client facing role which will involve the following duties:
- Answering / transferring phone calls
- Signing clients in and out of the building
- Booking appointments
- General Reception cover
- Other Admin duties as agreed necessary.

You may have had experience of substance misuse or have been affected by it are in recovery and stable and now perhaps want to give something back to support others.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No previous experience or qualifications necessary, an understanding of the challenges faced by those affected through addictive behaviours and a desire to support services essential.

Necessary skills for this role include, general computer literacy, friendly and approachable demeanour, good interpersonal skills and a willingness to undertake induction and training prior to starting.

Practical information:

Volunteering would take place Monday - Friday, maximum hours 16 per week. You may be new to our services, in which case guidance and training around substance misuse would be offered.

Our aim is to help as many people as possible to recover from drug and alcohol dependency in North Yorkshire. One to one support, structured group therapy work, local recovery groups and mentoring.
