Description of the role:

Children's activities volunteers work alongside staff to deliver activities designed to encourage children to enjoy books and use the library.

Volunteers would be involved in:
- Meeting and greeting members of the public at events
- Answering queries and giving directions
assisting with or leading craft
- Activities/storytelling
- Promoting library services and events - e.g. handing out leaflets and collecting evaluation forms
- Helping prepare the space in which the event is taking place
- Serving refeshments and helping to clear up afterwards

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

This role would suit someone who:
- Has a courteous, calm approach to the public
enjoys dealing with people - especially children
- Is punctual and reliable
- Is supportive of the library in its commitment to making resources and events accessible and welcoming

Practical information:

Volunteering will be mainly during library open hours.
