Group Volunteer

Group Volunteer
Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP)
Description of the role:

Are you a group of colleagues or friends who want to give something back to the community in which you volunteer or live? Perhaps you want to do some team building or use your skills to help others? We have volunteering opportunities for groups of up to 15 for half a day or a full day at a time. This could be on a one-off basis or perhaps more regularly. Practically minded volunteers will relish the chance to get involved with our Help at Home project. We need help with gardening, decorating and DIY. Could your group help clear someone's garden or perhaps paint a room for a client in need? Love a challenge? We also need enthusiastic volunteers to help us with fundraising - this could either be helping out with bag packing or helping to raise funds at flag collection days in local stores and town centres. Our project would not exist without our works. Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare, it will make a huge difference to the people we support.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Enthusiastic volunteers who like getting stuck in. No existing skills or qualifications are required to do this role, only a commitment to getting the job done. You need to be fit and active to volunteer with us. You will be supported by our team members and any necessary training will be given.

Practical information:

You would need to wear old clothes for this volunteering role.

Organisation Information

We help people in the community who are older, vulnerable and/or living with long-term ill health or disabilities to stay safe and well supported at home by providing a number of services aimed at promoting independence and tackling loneliness. With the support of over 100 dedicated volunteers our services include:

Volunteer befriending and social groups
Here to HELP - a chance for a cuppa and a chat and to find out where to turn for community support and activities
Voluntary car driving services to enable those who can’t access public transport due to rural location and/or limited mobility to attend medical appointments, make social visits, attend day centres and make essential trips such as shopping or banking.
Help at Home - gardening, decorating and odd job service for people unable to do the work themselves or could not afford a professional tradesperson

Who we help
We support anyone with conditions related to health or old age which prevents them from doing things they want/need to. It is particularly important to us to be able to help people living without a network of family and friends, or with full-time caring responsibilities, or those who cannot afford to pay for such services.
