Do you enjoy working with people and making things - then come along to one of our weekly crafts based activity sessions for adults with disabilities / learning differences.

17+ (If circumstances are appropriate someone between 16 - 17 years may be taken on) We hold weekly craft sessions at the following locations. We are particularly keen to find volunteers who could help at our Thursday craft sessions.

Tuesday 10.00-11.15 at NHS Lascelles Neurology Unit, Harrogate Hospital
Tuesday 10.15-11.45 at NHS Oakdale Ward, Harrogate Hospital

Wednesday 10.45-12.15 at Ripon Community Hospital, Ripon
Friday 9.45-12.15 at St Margaret's Church, Horsforth

If you need assistance in getting to these places we may be able to coordinate car sharing. In addition at Harrogate Hospital there is assistance with travel and parking costs.

Craft activities include card-making, marbling, mosaic-making, tie-dye and more. Volunteers work together with the participants to make craft products, which the participants can either keep or donate to Craft Aid International to be sold in aid of our work overseas.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No specific skills are required but patience and compassion are useful assets. An interest in arts and crafts would be useful but we will show you exactly what is needed at each session. The sessions are staffed by a qualified craft instructor and accompanying volunteers.

We are looking for friendly volunteers, who enjoy enabling others. We welcome volunteers of all faiths and none. Craft Aid International is founded on Christian principles of love, compassion, inclusion and justice for people on the margins; and serves people of all faiths and none. Please be aware that we may start our Thursday sessions with a prayer for the people coming. We don’t require volunteers to be Christians, but we do require that they be sympathetic to the principles on which we are founded.
