Description of the role:

Age UK Knaresborough and District provides a personalised shopping service for those who have difficulty doing their own shopping. Using own transport the volunteer either shops for the client using a pre-prepared list and delivers to the clients home. Or, the client might want to be escourted to the shops and assisted with their shopping. The volunteer is introduced to a client and a mutually convenient time is made to do the first shop. Once the connection has been made it is then up to the client and volunteer to agree times and days to shop in the future.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Use of a car. Basic numeracy skills are an advantage. The role is taken up by people of all ages and backgrounds with an interest in helping vulnerable older people meet a basic human need on a regular basis.

Practical information:

A variety of clients homes and shops in the Knaresborough and District area.
