Description:

Acclaimed International pianist Margaret Fingerhut has devised a very special concert that she is performing across the UK to raise awareness of refugee needs as well as to collect funds for local City of Sanctuary Refugee Groups.

Through music and words Margaret tells the story of some of the many composers who were refugees because of war or persecution, or who migrated for their work, including Chopin, Grieg, Handel, Haydn, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov.

The Harrogate District of Sanctuary is delighted that Margaret has agreed to come to Harrogate to give a performance of this amazing concert. We are an enthusiastic group of local people which aims to support refugees and asylum seekers who come to our district, and to raise awareness more generally about the issues they face.
